Johanna "Joan" Monje

Newark"Johanna Monje, 86, died on Thursday (August 10, 2006) at the Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the Family.

Mrs. Monje was born on March 17, 1920 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, the daughter of Marinus and Johanna Roest VanAnkeren. Joan along with her husband Frans owned a plumbing and heating business in Newark for which she did the bookkeeping for 45 years. She was an avid gardener and a member of the Newark Garden Club. Joan was also a member of the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital Auxiliary and a foster grandparent for many years at the Newark Kelley and Middle Schools. Joan loved fashion and was noted for her style.

She is survived by one daughter Pieternella "Nellie" Colarocco of Newark, four grandchildren Marina (Matthew) Crider of Fairport, James (Susan) Westcott of W. Irondequiot, Johanna (Lawrence) Hammond of Rochester, and Thomas Anthony Colarocco of Newark, six great grandchildren, a sister Catherine (Alex) Brams of Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, last May and a brother Jon VanAnkeren
