John C. Shear
Newark--- John C. Shear, died peacefully on Wednesday (July 18th) at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital after a long illness.
Friends are in invited to call from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, July 20th at the Paul L. Murphy and Sons Funeral Home, 127 E. Miller Street, Newark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. on Saturday (July 21th) at St. Michael Church, 401 S. Main Street, Newark. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.
John is survived by his wife of 22 years, Kimberly (Garvey); a son Jacob and daughter Carly at home; his father Thomas (Delores) of Lyons, a brother James (Shannon) Shear of Newark, sisters Cathleen (Gary) Zdyb of Pittsford and Andrea Parker of Palmyra; two sister-in-laws Margaret (Mike) Balke Mastellar of Geneva and Kelly Balch of Newark and many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his mother Betsy Shear in 1994.
Mr. Shear was born on September 11, 1964 in Buffalo, New York, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Friedrich Shear. He graduated from Newark Senior High in 1982 and later from Alfred Technical College. He worked many years for Kodak and after his film unit was purchased by Champion Photochemistry Inc., he continued as their product manager. John was very active in the lives of his two beloved children and in local community affairs. He had coached local youth basketball; had been Vice President of the Newark Country Club and was on the board of directors of Candy Apple Pre-School. John enjoyed golfing and gardening with his wife.
