Fairville—Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial services for John, on Saturday (May 23rd) at 11 AM at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Memorials, in his name, may be made to the Fairville Fire Department or The American Cancer Society. John died December 6, 2014 leaving nine children, 32 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters; several nieces and nephews.

Fairville---John Douglas Mac Kay, 75, died Saturday (December 6, 2014) at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.
A celebration of John's life will be held from 12 to 5 P.M. on Sunday, February 22nd (John's birthday) at the August Mauer Post, American Legion, corner of East Union and East Avenue, Newark. To help in the planning, the family is requesting a RSVP to 315-694-2400 by February 7th. In the spring of 2015, a visitation and funeral service at the Paul L. Murphy Funeral Home, will be announced. Burial will be in Fairville Cemetery.

Mr. Mac Kay was born on February 22, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late John N. and Marian Giebel Mac Kay. He was a machinist at Kodak for twenty-two years; along with operating his farm in Fairville. For several years, John owned and operated Mac Kay's Bar and Grill in Fairville. He was a forty year member of the Fairville Fire Department. John enjoyed doing carpentry work, tending his garden, loving his cocker spaniels and was a proud corvette owner.
He is survived by his children Jacqueline Mac Kay of Manassas, Va., Dawn (Paul) Sirface of Hagerstown, Md., John (Suzanne) of McMurray, Pa., Michael (Cathleen) of Catlett, Va., Scott (Michelle) of Canandaigua, Robert (Mijann) of Fredericksburg , Va., William Wemesfelder of Or., Kimberlee (Brian) Wheeler of W. Va. And Mark Wemesfelder of Marion; thirty two grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; two sisters Yvonne Davis of Penfield and Marilyn Mercurio of Williamson, several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his wife Joan in 2009 and a sister Audrey.
