Newark"John J. Scutella, 84, of W. Maple Avenue, died Sunday (November 5, 2006) at Newark Wayne Community Hospital.
Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. on Tuesday (November 7th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Father B. Thomas Celso will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. on Wednesday (November 8th) at St. Michael's Church in Newark. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

Mr. Scutella was born June 1, 1922 in Syracuse, the son of Michael and Angeline Rossi Scutella. For thirty years, he was an electrical engineer with Xerox, retiring in 1986. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. John was a member of the Newark Council Knights of Columbus, the Newark Rod and Gun Club and the August Mauer Post, American Legion. He served with the US Army during World War II, in the Pacific Theater and the liberation of the Philippine Islands.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Mary Jane, a brother Rocco (Florence) of Newark, a sister Mitilda "Dolly" Lenhart of West Palm Beach, Fl., several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Dominic and Nicholas, sisters Helen Balick and Josephine Kopp.
