Newark— John W. Burgess “Jack”, 75, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022 at the Wayne County Nursing Home.

Friends may call from 11-1 pm on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 E. Miller St., in Newark. A service will follow at the funeral home. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

Memorials in his name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY 14620 or American Diabetes, 160 Allens Creek Rd., Rochester, NY 14618.

Mr. Burgess was born in Geneva, NY, on December 29, 1946 the son of the late John E. and Margaret Heffron Burgess. After high school Jack entered the Air Force and served his country for four years. Jack earned his Bachelor’s degree from SUNY Geneseo and was a Computer Programmer for Key Bank. An excellent Tennis Player in his day, he also loved hiking, Kayaking and traveling to National Parks. A sports Enthusiast, he was a big fan of the Buffalo Bills and the Syracuse Orangemen.

Jack is survived by a sister Patricia Guest; four brothers Robert (Rebecca), Thomas (Karen) David (Michele) Edward (Maura) Burgess; Many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a nephew Nathan Burgess and brother-in-law John Guest.
