Newark/Sodus"John O. Miller, Jr., 79, died Thursday (July 26, 2007) at his home.
Friends may call from 1 " 3 P.M. on Saturday (July 28, 2007 at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Funeral services will follow the calling hours at 3:00 PM. Burial will be in Fairville Cemetery.
Memorials in his name may be made to either the Fairville Fire Department, Rt. 88 North, Newark, New York 14513 or to the Wayne County Humane Society, 1475 County House Road, Lyons, New York 14489.
Mr. Miller was born on February 22, 1928 in Glen Richey, Pennsylvania, the son of John and Loretta Carey Miller, Sr. He retired in 1983, from Kodak where he was a film processor for many years. John served with the US Navy at the end of World War II. He was a member of the August Mauer Post American Legion and the Fairville Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by two daughters Regina Sparks of Newark, Lucinda (Albert) Bell of Durango, CO., a son Terry (Christine) Miller of Randleman, NC., four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, four brothers James (Roberta) of Marion, Perry of Glen Richey, PA., Fred (Susan) of Henrietta, Richard (Carolyn) of Henrietta; two sisters Gail (Robert) Wright of Melbourne, FL., Norma Proud of Buffalo, several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his wife Betty in 2001, son John O. III and five siblings.
