John R. McGarigle (Hoyt)
Newark"John R. McGarigle, 82, of East Maple Street, died Saturday (November 4, 2006) at Pines of Peace Comfort Care Home.
No prior calling. Funeral services will be Wednesday (November 8, 2006) at 2 P.M. at the Newark Assembly of God, 1088 Hartnagle Road, Newark. Memorials in his name may be made to Pines of Peace, 2378 Ridge Road, Ontario, New York 14519 or to the Assembly of God, 1088 Hartnagle Road, Newark, New York 14513.
Mr. McGarigle was born on May 14, 1924, in Detroit, Michigan the son of John and Laura Hidden McGarigle. He had worked at the New York Central Railroad Car Shop in East Rochester where he had been a machinist and foreman. After the car shop closed, he worked construction and retired from Seneca Foods in Newark. John served with the US Navy during World War II in European African Campaign in Cherbourg, France and at sea on the Queen Mary. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. John and his wife would have celebrated their 43 wedding anniversary on November 8th.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn, his children Kathy (Dave) Esper of Utica, Jeanne (Fred) Kepler of Marion, Seana (Mark "Randy") Freling of Lyons, James (Tracy) Hoyt, Wendy (Jack) Carrigan, Kimberly (Mike) Miller, Jackie (James "Jimmer") Mazur, Renee (Ed) DeWolf all of Newark, twenty grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. John was predeceased by a son Patrick McGarigle, a granddaughter Renee Carrigan, a brother Jim McGarigle and a sister Sarah Swan.
