John R. Wildey
Lyons/Palmyra"John R. Wildey, 84, died Sunday (May 2, 2005) at the Clifton Springs Hospital.
Funeral services will be private.
Mr. Wildey was born September 6, 1920, in Rochester, New York the son of Edwin and Mary Bindrum Wildey. He was retired from Rochester Telephone Company where he had been a supervisor in the service bureau. A member of the Palmyra Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he had served five ministries for the Church. Mr. Wildey founded the first chapter of National Campers and Hikers Assoc. where he served as its President. He then established 13 other local chapters and served as the Northeast Regional Director. John served on the Boards of Directors the Wayne County Habitat of Humanity and the William Phelps Store Museum in Palmyra. During World War II, he served with the Army Air Corp.
He is survived by his wife June of Lyons, Daughter Gail (George) Harmston and son Gary (Beth) Wildey of Palmyra, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. John was predeceased by his parents and a brother Roy.
