John A. Rees

Newark"John Arthur Rees, 58, passed away on Saturday (June 2, 2007) at Rochester General Hospital surrounded by friends and family.

Funeral services for John will be at 1 PM on Monday (June 4th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark, NY with Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.

Mr. Rees was born in Syracuse on April 2, 1949, the son of Robert H. and Louise Ellis Rees. He lived in Syracuse until 2000, when he moved to Newark. John worked many years as a professional photographer with Olan Mills and as a shoe salesman for Rochester Shoe Store. He was passionate about music and was an accomplished guitar and clarinet player. Among his other interests were model railroading, cooking, golf and fishing. John had a wonderful sense of humor.

John is survived by three sisters Carol (Mike) Balfe of Milton, MA, Cindy Colella Emin of East Syracuse and Jackie (Mike) Kula of Bainbridge Township, OH, several cousins, nieces, nephews and his many loving and caring friends in Newark. He was predeceased by his father in 2001 and mother in 1982.
