Newark ---Joseph L. Nicosia, 83, died Tuesday (November 13, 201) at the Wayne County Nursing Home.
Friends may call 4 to 7 P.M. on Thursday (November 15th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Father Felix Dalimpuo will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. on Friday (November 16th) at St. Michael’s Church, South Main Street, Newark . Burial will be in Newark Cemetery

Mr. Nicosia was born on July 8, 1929 in Auburn, the son of Sebastiano and Anna Visile Nicosia. He was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church where he was an usher for many years. Joe owned and operated Wayne Beer Distributing retiring in 1998 and most recently helped his son at Joey’s Northside Grocery. He was a member of the Newark Fire Department, Arcadia Hose Company #2, the Newark Elks and the Newark Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his son Joseph “Joey”, a daughter MaryAnne and son-in-law Michael McCarthy all of Newark; a brother Vincent Nicosia of Naples, Florida,; grandchildren of the heart Anthony and Michael Bogan, Erin, Jake and Sarah Barrett. Joe was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Rose, his parents Sebastiano and Anna Nicosia and stepfather James Iati.
