Newark—Joyce Carr—88, died Saturday (December 12, 2015) at the Wayne County Nursing Home.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Thursday (December 17th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark where funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday (December 18th). Burial will be with her husband at Sampson Veteran Memorial Cemetery in Romulus
Memorials, in her name, may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 435 East Henrietta Road, Rochester, New York 14620.
Mrs. Carr was born in Clyde on June 16, 1927, the daughter of Kermit and Bertha Harper Howell. She graduated from Wolcott High School in 1945. Joyce was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newark and had been active in the Ruth Circle. She loved children. For many years, she volunteered as an aide helping in kindergardens in the Walworth area schools. Joyce loved to sew, cook and to travel with her husband. She and her husband enjoyed doing many various things with their grandchildren. They especially loved their many vacation trips with them.
She is survived by her children Charlotte (Richard Blowers) Carr of Newark, Susan (Charles) Camp of Newark and Guy (Laurene) Carr of Rochester; four grandchildren Mark Kress, Shelly Kress, Perry Gay and Mindy Rielly; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters Elma “Rusty” (Paul) Beall of NC., Margaret (George) Green of Honeoye and Evelyn (Robert) Rose of Bulter. Joyce was predeceased by her husband of 66 years Joseph E. Carr on March 20, 2015.
