Judith Emper
Newark—Judith Ann Emper, 75, passed away peacefully on Monday (May 1, 2017) at Rochester General Hospital.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday (May 4th) from 4 to 8 PM at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday (May 5th) at St. Michael Church, South Main Street, Newark. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Clyde.
Judith was born on March 31, 1942 in Savannah, the daughter of the late Pasquale and Mary Carissimi Lopez in Savannah, New York. She grew up on the family potato farm in Savannah and graduated in 1959 from Savannah High School. At age 17, she enrolled at the Rochester Institute and graduated in 1962 with a degree in secretarial science. She married John Emper on May 2, 1964. She was a Communicant of St. Michael Church where she volunteered at the church and the school . Judy was a caregiver at the Newark Development Center, retiring after ten years so she could help raise her grandchildren.
Judy is survived by two sons Christopher John (Kathy) of Loveland, Co. and Mathew David of West Allis, WI, a daughter Victoria Emper of Newark, four grandchildren Bart Zachariah Martin, Annika Carissimi Martin, Bayleigh and Zoey Emper, a brother Michael (Mel) Lopez, two sisters Carolyn (Mario) Bernardo of Binghamton and Marylee (James) Lippert of Clyde. She was predeceased by her husband John in 2005, a brother Joseph Lopez and a sister Jean Walsh.
