June Cyr
Newark—A. June Cyr, 79, formerly of North Avenue, died Sunday (September 13, 2009) at Rochester General Hospital.
Family and friends may call from 6-8 P.M. on Monday (September 21th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Tuesday (September 22nd) at St. Michael’s Church, South Main Street, Newark. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.
Memorials, in her name, may be made to the Wayne County Humane Society, 1475 County House Road, Lyons, New York 14513.
June was born June 7, 1930, in Winsted, Connecticut, the daughter of Ralph and Hazel Dow Cyr. She graduated from the Aroostook State Teachers College in Prescott, Maine in 1955. For many years June taught second grade in Newark, first at Roosevelt School and with its closing, she moved to the Perkins School until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of the Wayne County Retired Teachers Association and a communicant of St. Michael’s Church.
She is survived by a sister Betty (Ronald) Howlett of Newark, a brother David (Catherine) Cyr of Uncasville, CT., several nieces and nephews. June was predeceased by her parents, two brothers Carlton and Daniel Cyr.
