Katherine Elizabeth Gerber “Betty”

Newark-Betty Gerber, 95, died on Tuesday (May 13, 2014) at her home in Newark.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Felix Ealimpuo, at 11 AM on Saturday (May 17
th) at St. Michael Church, South Main Street, Newark. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

Memorials, in her name, may be made to the St. Michael's Church, 401 South Main Street, New York 14513.

Betty was born on September 23, 1918 in Newark, the daughter of Michael and Catherine Brown Gerber. After graduating from Newark High School in 1936, she worked at C.H. Stuart, Inc. for several years. Betty then began her career in banking. She worked for Lincoln Rochester Trust Company for 39 years, retiring in 1981 as an assistant manager at the downtown Newark Branch. Betty was a communicant of St. Michael Church where she had be very actively involved with the church community. She had also spent many hours volunteering at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.

She was predeceased by her parents, sister Marguerite (Franklin) Allen and a nephew Michael Allen. Betty was the beloved aunt of Marsha (Tom) Tarantelli of Fairport, Joan Brady of Newark, Katryn (Ellis Martin, deceased) Allen of Gilboa, NY and Thomas Allen of Voorhees, NJ; Linda Allen (Michael' s widow); ten great and thirteen great great nieces and nephews.
