Newark"Linda S. Godfrey, 57, of Rose Drive, died Wednesday (June 7, 2006) at Strong Memorial Hospital.
Friends may call from 5-8 PM on Sunday (June 11th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Funeral services for Linda will be at 11 AM on Monday (June 12th) at the First United Church, South Main Street, Newark with Rev. Roger Smith and Rev. Elton Smith officiating. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Finger Lakes DDSO, Cashier's Office, 620 Westfall Road, Rochester, New York 14620. Please note on your contribution "Recreation Donation Account".
Linda was born in Utica, NY on November 17, 1948. She lived in Waterville, NY in her early childhood and then moved to Newark in 1973. Linda graduated from the Marion S. Whelan School of Nursing in 1978 as an LPN and Finger Lakes Community College in 1987 as a Registered Nurse. Linda was a dedicated nurse and service coordinator for the Finger Lakes Developmental Disabilities Services Office for 28 years. Her life and career were dedicated to her family and friends.
She is survived fianc Michael McNally of Newark, sons Jim (Tami) of Newark, Joe (Kelly) of Shortsville, daughter Jill (Tom) Durfee of Newark; nine grandchildren Tom, Alissa, Dillon, Cassie, Lindsey, Gina, Hayley, Hannah, and Emma; brothers Bill (Sarah) Welsh, Gene (Sally) Sinardo, Dick Welsh, Glen (Lenora) Welsh, sisters Kathy (John) Paino, Judy (Tony) Strong, Donna Melvin, Karen (Joe) Burnett, Patty Strong, Barbara (L.D.) Crumb, Laurie Welsh, Linda Schultz, and a special aunt Elsie Buell of Holland Patent, NY. Linda was predeceased by her parents Charles and Katherine (Buell) Welsh, brothers Howard and Charles Welsh, special friends Sherry (Gutschow) Farman and Diane Johnson.
