Newark- 65,  of Fairport, passed away Saturday (September 28, 2013) at Rochester General Hospital.No prior calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. on Wednesday (October 2nd) at St. Michael Church, South Main Street, Newark.

​Doctor Piro was born on October 9, 1947 in Nashville, Tennessee, son of the late Louis J. and Petronella Ogurkis Piro Sr.  A life long New Yorker, he graduated high school from Dona Prep. School, New York Medical College in 1975 and did his residency at the New Jersey College of Medicine.  Doctor Piro received a Fellowship at Strong Memorial Hospital in the Hematology and Oncology Department.  In 1985, Doctor Piro started his private practice of medicine in Newark. He was a member of the American Medical Association.He loved being a doctor but in his free time, he enjoyed traveling, hiking and fishing with his friends.

​He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Saule, a son Alexis of Fairport, a daughter Katherine Piro and son-in-law Brett Despatovitch of Toronto, Canada; a sister Susan(Phil) Vitale of Brooklyn; two brothers Joseph (Pamela) of Garfield, N.J. and John of Manhatten.
