Newark"Madeline Prutzman, 89, died Monday (January 14, 2008 ) at the DeMay Living Center.

Friends may call on Wednesday (January 16th) from 2-4 & 7" 9 PM at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Father Mark Brewer will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM on Thursday (January 17th) at St. Michael's Church, South Main Street, Newark. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.

Memorials in her name may be made to DeMay Living Center Activities Fund, 111 Driving Park Avenue, Newark, New York 14513.

Mrs. Prutzman was born on August 17, 1918 in Marion, the daughter of August and Nathalie Van Dorp Van De Walle. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. Madeline operated Prutzman's Mattress Shop in Newark, first with her husband for 26 years and then with her son Gary for 36 years.

She is survived by two sons Gary (Diana) of Lyons and Larry (Cheryl) of Palmyra, three grandsons Paul, Daniel and Jonathan, five great granddaughters, several nieces and nephews. Madeline was predeceased by her husband Harry in 1972 and five siblings Mary Deisering, Henry, Clement, Alice and Raymond Van De Walle.
