Newark/Wolcott—Maebelle H. Pitts, 90, died peacefully surrounded by her children on Monday (September 14, 2015) at the DeMay Living Center.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 P.M. on Friday (September 18th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark, where a funeral service will follow at 4 PM. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

Mrs. Pitts was born in Wolcott on March 25, 1925, the daughter of Walter and Olive Cline Kiphut. She had worked many years at Emmons Jewelry and Duffy Motts. Maebelle was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the “Red Rose” Red Hat Society, the American Legion and the VFW Auxillaries. Maebelle loved to socalize and especially enjoyed the coffee hours at the Newark High Rise. When she was able, she enjoyed traveling and working in her flower gardens.

Maebelle is survived by two daughters Sharon (Merritt) Peets and Deborah (Mike Sipes) Jinks both of Newark; two sons David (Bonnie) of Clyde and Eugene (Jennifer) of Port Gibson; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; three sisters Mary Blanchard of Wolcott, Naomi (Richard) Randall of Auburn and Joyce (Colin) Moorecock of St. Petersburg, FL; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Donald in 2009, a daughter Kathleen Dayton, granddaughter Pam Baker and brother Robert Kiphut.
