Margaret Stuart Beale
Newark—Margaret Stuart Beale, passed away peacefully at her home on July 4th, at the age of 88.
Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, James Martin Beale and her two brothers, Charles W. Stuart and Lyman K. Stuart Jr. She is survived by her four children; Sarah (Harold) Gaffin, James M. Beale Jr., Harriet (John) Bonin and Elizabeth (Richard) Leppert; seven grandchildren; Jennifer (William) Murray, George (Nora) Yancey, Thomas Beale, Kathleen Beale, Julia Bonin, Caroline (Jeffrey) Hildenbrand and William Bonin; five great grandchildren; one great, great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Beale was born in Rochester, New York, the daughter of Lyman Knight and Harriet Sanford Stuart. She was a graduate of Abbott Academy in Andover, Mass.; Pine Manor Jr. College in Wellesley, Mass. and The Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York City.
The highest priority in Margi’s life was her family and every encounter with a child, grandchild, niece or nephew was met with a warm smile, hug and genuine interest in recent activities. She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church her entire life and served several terms as Chair of the Altar Guild and President of the Vestry. An enthusiastic supporter of Wayne County and the Village of Newark, she actively volunteered on behalf of the community. She served on the boards of the Seven Lakes Girl Scouts Council, United Way, Cancer Action, The Newark Wayne Community Hospital Foundation, and Newark Arcadia Historical Society. Margi enjoyed every summer of her life at Sodus Bay and was a founding member of the Board of the Sodus Bay Historical Society. Margaret received the Newark Chamber of Commerce Public Service Award in 1992.
There will be no prior calling hours. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 3 P.M. at St. Mark’ s Episcopal Church, 400 South Main St., Newark, NY. Interment will be in the Newark Cemetery.
