Marian Rykbost Welcher

Newark"Marian Welcher, 84, died Tuesday (February 26, 2008) at her home.

Friends may call Saturday (March 8) from 1 to 4 PM at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the Newark-Arcadia Historical Society P.O. Box 289 Newark, NY 14513

Marian was born May 3, 1923 in Newark, the daughter of Frank and Jennie VandenHeuvel Rykbost. She graduated from Newark High School with the class of 1940. Mrs. Welcher worked as a secretary, retiring from Paul Andrew Distributing in Lyons, NY. She lived with her husband on the Lee Farm on Minsteed Road. Marian sang with the Rose City Ensemble. She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Canandaigua. Marian enjoyed being an active participant in the foster grandparent program.

She is survived by her son Thomas (Donna) of Sodus, grandson Adam and grand daughter Andrea (Alan) Place; son Jeffrey (Theresa) of Oneida, granddaughters Meghan and Aaron; daughter-in "law Sue of Newark, grandson Evan; and her good friend Gerald Burnham.

Marian was predeceased by her husband Paul in 2004 and a son Frank in 1998.
