Newark –Mary E. DeMott, 99, died Sunday (December 23, 2012) at the DeMay Living Center

            Friends may call 2-4 to 6-8P.M. on Thursday (December 27^th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 E. Miller St., Newark.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday (Dec. 28^th) at St. Michael’s Church, Newark.  Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

            Mary was born in Newark, on June 18, 1913, the daughter of Phillip R. and Alice Dale DeMott.  She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church.  She had worked at Bond Clothes, M.H. Fishman’s and Woolworths and as a Governess for the Ethel and Dewey Herman family for several years.  Mary loved children and looked after the children of several other families as well as watching over the children of the neighborhood.

 She is survived by her loving brother James F. DeMott of Newark; nieces and nephews; Larry (Debbie), William (Susie), Steven (Dawn) DeMott, Patty Pofi, Joanne Tando, George II (Diane), Edward, Thomas (Lynn) DeMott and Michelle (Greg) Strong; several grand nieces and nephews, and many good friends.
