Newark/Wolcott"Mary Lou Years, 83, of Wolcott formerly of Newark, died Tuesday (February 15, 2005) at the home of her daughter in Wolcott.

Friends may call from 6-8 PM on Thursday (Feb. 17th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Friday (Feb. 18th) at the First United Methodist Church, South Main Street, Newark with Rev. Elton Smith officiating. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery

Mrs. Years was born in Buffalo on December 25, 1921, the daughter of Carl and Ruth Marsh Lounsbery. For many years, she worked for Mobil Chemical and Sarah Coventry retiring in 1984. She was an active member of the Girl Scouts, the Newark Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, the Arcadia Memorial Post VFW, and was a foster grandparent. Mary Lou belonged to several hiking clubs and had hiked both the Appalachian Trail and the Finger Lakes Trail end to end.

She is survived by four daughters Mary "Penny" (Gary) Shaw of Marion, Lucia (Robert) Monroe of Wolcott, Marcia (Richard Maslyn of Phelps, Pamela (Max) Slifer of Colts Neck, NJ, a son Melvin I. (Jennifer) Years of Newark, sixteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, a sister Lucia Adams and a sister-in-law Dorothy Gerber both of Fairport, several nieces and nephews.

Mary Lou was predeceased by her husband Melvin A. Years in 1957, a son Roger A. Years in 1991 and a granddaughter Brandy Nash and great granddaughter Ashley Nash in 1997.
