Merton R. Wilson Newark"Merton. R. Wilson, 95, died Thursday (October 30, 2008) at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home. Funeral services will be at 2 PM on Sunday (Nov. 2nd) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 E. Miller St., Newark. Burial will be in Palmyra Cemetery. Memorials in his name may be made to Kidney Foundation of Upstate NY, 15 Prince St., Rochester, NY 14607 or the American Cancer Society 1400 Winton Rd. N. Rochester, NY 14609. Mr. Wilson was born May 29, 1913 in Lockport, the son of Robert and Cora Willis Wilson. He retired from the Newark State School where he had been a cook and was a member of the Top of the Hill Club. Merton was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a Charter Member of the Fairville Volunteer Fire Department, a 66 year member of the Newark Elks Lodge, a 61 year member of the Newark Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Arcadia Senior Citizens. He is survived by his daughter Shelia Everdyke of Williamson, two grandchildren Crystal and Darin Everdyke, great granddaughter Jennifer, special friend Helen Fellows of Newark. Predeceased by his wife Leona in 1994, a brother Gordon Wilson and a sister Celeste Fox. Remembrances may be sent to www.murphyandsonsfuneralhome.com
