Michael G. Youngs
Newark— Michael Youngs 78, passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his loved
ones, on Monday, July 5, 2021.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Sampson Veterans Memorial
Cemetery.
Michael was born May 6, 1943, son of the late John and Isabel Lanphear Youngs, in Geneva, NY. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962-1965. Michael retired from Xerox after 37 years. He loved traveling on his motorcycles. He had a fondness for all animals, especially his horse Bud and his cat, Black Cat. Mike was well known for his easy conversation, quippy phrases, and great stories. He had a colorful history with boxing and will always be remembered for asking people if they knew Sonny Liston.
Mike will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Penelope “Mikey” (Richard Itara) Youngs; his caregiver Karen Youngs; friends Jeffrey and Jason Clough, the sons he never had; special nurses Rebecca Streeter and Nikki Vitaro; stepdaughter Kelly (Carl) Frazer; step-granddaughters Keri (Chris) Watson and Lindsey (Cory) Schoonmaker; step-great grandson Keegan Frazer; brothers and sisters Timothy Youngs, Amy (Ed) Zukowski, Chris (Debbie)
Youngs, Elizabeth Wyatt, Joan (Jeffrey Reed) Youngs, Jean (Paul) Merkley; special nieces and nephew.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Canandaigua VA for their care and compassion.
Memorials in his name may be made to the Beverly Animal Shelter, 50 E. River St., Waterloo, NY 13165.
