Nancy (DiSanto) Armitage
Newark–Nancy J. Armitage, 80, died Wednesday (December 8, 2010) at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.
Father Felix Dalimpuo will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM, on Saturday (December 11th) at St. Michael’s Church, South Main Street, Newark. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.
Memorials, in her name, may be made to St. Michael’s School, 320 South Main Street, Newark, New York 14513 or to the House of John, 14 Spring Street, Clifton Springs, New York 14432.
Mrs. Armitage was born on March 26, 1930 in Newark, the daughter of Joseph and Angeline (Di Santo) Di Santo. She worked for many years as a telephone operator for the New York Telephone Company in Newark. After the closing of the Newark office, Nancy was an administrative clerk in the Auburn office until her retirement in 1983. She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church and an active volunteer at its school and at many of the church rummage sales, bazaars, festivals and other church activities. She also volunteered at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Nancy was a member of the New York Telephone Pioneers. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and playing cards, but most of all, being with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 58 yrs. Bernard C., three daughters Deborah Silverman of Albuquerque, NM, Lisa (Paul) Visca of Pittsford, Tina (Chris) McMullen of West Walworth, two sons Joseph (Ellen) of Waterloo, Paul of San Antonio, TX; twelve grandchildren Ryan, Andrew, Philip, Michael, Thalia, Taryn, Kailani, Kelli-Jo, Mary, Matthew, Adriana and Madelyn; a brother Alexander Di Santo of Melbourne, FL. and a very dear niece Angela Velte of Newark. Nancy was predeceased by her parents and five sisters Rose Ursano, Teresa Marshall, Grace Trombino, Aurora Cimineri and Lucy Leese.
