Norman R. Downey
Newark- Norman R. Downey, 71, of West Sherman Avenue, died Monday (October 29, 2007) at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.
Friends may call from 6-9 PM on Thursday (Nov. 1st) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark, New York. Funeral services will be at 10AM on Friday (Nov. 2nd) at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Eveland, officiating.

Mr. Downey was born on May 19, 1936, in Newark, the son of Frederick and Clarabel Sergert Downey. He was employed for many years at American Can Company in Fairport. He retired in 1998, from construction in Colorado where he had worked as a carpenter for five years. Norm had a passion for antique cars and liked to hunt and fish.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sharon, seven children Debra Downey of Fairville, Keith (Susan) Downey of Newark, Kenneth Downey of Bulter, Brenda (John) Scott of Newark, Matthew (Jill) Downey of Newark, Mark Downey of King Ferry, and Joshua (Shelly) Downey of Newark; fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; five siblings Frederick (Marion) Downey of Clifton Springs, James (Nancy) Downey of Pike, Lawrence (Joyce) Downey of Clifton Springs, Judith (Larry) Briggs of Newark and Steven (Carol) Downey of Newark and several nieces and nephews.
