Newark—Oscar Anderson, 90, died on Saturday (December 18, 2010) at the Wayne County Nursing Home.
Friends may call from 9:30 -11 AM on Wednesday at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark, where funeral services will be held at 11 AM with Rev. Steven Matteson officiating. Burial will be in the East Newark Cemetery.

Mr. Anderson was born on November 13, 1920 in Mahaffey, Pennsylvania, the son of Elmer and Beulah Rowe Anderson. He was a 1939 graduate of Lyons Central School and graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1942. After graduation, he served his country with the US Army during World War II in India and Asia. Oscar retired from Bloomer Brothers where he was a commercial artist. His hobbies included skiing, hiking, photography and painting. He loved to paint and draw. His drawings of the Newark-Arcadia Historical Museum and the Marbletown Schoolhouse are used on all the society’s stationary, newsletters and programs. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newark, Newark-Arcadia Historical Society and a member of the former Newark County Club.
Oscar is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and many good friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 30 years, Barbara in 1993, and five siblings.
