Newark---Pauline D. Vande Mortel, 84, died Thursday (November 6, 2008) at the Newark Manor Nursing Home.
Friends may call from 3-6 PM on Sunday (November 9th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street. Newark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Felix Dalimpuo at 11:30 AM on Monday (November 10th) at St. Michael's Church, South Main Street, Newark. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

Mrs. VandeMortel was born November 3, 1924 in Marion, the daughter of Clarence and Hattie Wirth Dey. She was a 1942 graduate of Newark High School. For more than twenty years she worked as a librarian at the Newark Public Library, retiring in 1985. Pauline was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. She was a member of the Arcadia Historical Society and the Arcadia Senior Citizens. Pauline and her husband Harry would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on December 9th.
Pauline is survived by her husband Harold, her children Rita Pisciotti of Newark, Steven and daughter-in-law Ann VandeMortel of Newark, daughter Elaine VandeMortel and son-in-law James Owens of Sodus, grandchildren Sarah Fisher, Nikki Cuneo, Elizabeth and John Switzer, great grandchildren Tyler, Amada, Mackenzie, Kaylee and a brother-in-law Gene VandeMortel of Sodus Point. She is predeceased by three brothers Kenneth, Forrest and Nelson Dey and a sister Mildred VanHoesen.
