Newark—Raymond J. DePauw , 91, died on Sunday (December 20, 2009 at his home on Marbletown Road.
Friends may call from 10 to 11:30 AM on Tuesday (December 22nd) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark where funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM with Rev. Christy Wareham officiating. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.

Mr. DePauw was born on June 28, 1918 in Newark, the son of Victor and Elizabeth Donahue DePauw. He was a life-long resident of Newark graduating from Newark High School in 1938. He served his country in the Army for over four years during World War II, with most of his time spent in the European Theater. After the war, he worked construction for several years. Ray was proud that he had built himself three homes, in which he lived, in Newark. He worked for Curtiss Candy Company before buying it and changing the name to Newark Candy Company. He sold the company when he was 59 years old and retired. Ray was a member of the August Mauer Post American Legion and the Newark Elks Club. An avid golfer, he had been the golf champ eight times at the Newark Country Club where he had been a long time member.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Elizabeth, a son David of Newark, two daughters Patricia (Richard) Matthys of Homeward, Il. and Margaret (William) Embrey of Newark, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren, a sister Louise Perkins of Newark, several nieces and nephews. Ray was predeceased by his first wife Irene on December 25, 1971, his five siblings Victor DePauw, Pauline Troke, Elizabeth Farrell, Ella DePauw and Richard DePauw.
