Raymond L. DePauw
Newark- Raymond L. DePauw, 54, passed away on Friday (October 4, 2013) at his home.There will be no prior calling hours. A funeral service will be at 11 A.M. on Wednesday (October 9th) at the Park Presbyterian Church, Maple Court, Newark.
Contributions, in Ray's honor, may be made to AFSCME Council 721, Attn: Dan Callahan, Treasurer, 321 Murray Street, Newark, New York 14513; these funds will be used for an appropriate memorial item to be placed in a Village Park.
Ray was born March 18, 1959 in Newark, the son of Raymond C. and Mary Fox DePauw. He graduated from Newark High School in 1977 and worked at DeRoo's Foods for many years. For thirteen years Ray was a partner with his sister Gloria in Ray-Glo Foods in Newark. He then worked seven years for the Village of Newark Department of Public Works. Ray loved the winters so he could plow snow. He enjoyed the out of doors and nature, especially watching wildlife.Starting as a teenage and for the next thirty plus years, he was a member along with his dad, sister and brothers in the Clyde Saxton Band.Ray played the drums.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Nancy Lunay DePauw, three sons Jarod of Newark, Matthew of Newark and Brian of Lyons, a grandson Dylan; his siblings Gloria (Tony) Paddock of Clyde, Richard (Jenell) of Appollo Beach, Fl, Philip of Sanford, Fl, Debbie Bray of Sanford, Gordon of Newark and his adopted brother Mike Swartz of Newark,his mother-in-law Carol Vine of Waterloo; his faithful dog, Peanut; several nieces and nephews.Ray was predeceased by his father RC and mother Mary and father-in-law Jack Lunay.
