Newark ---Richard L. Foster, 71, died Tuesday (May 24, 2005) at the De May Living Center.

Friends may call from 4-8 PM on Thursday (May 26th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Funeral services will be at 11 AM. on Friday (May 27th) at First United Methodist Church, South Main Street, Newark with the Rev. Elton Smith officiating. Burial in South Lyons Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, PO Box 189, Newark, New York l1513 or to the De May Living Center's Activities Department, 100 Sunset Drive, Newark, New York 14513.

Mr. Foster was born May 25, 1933, in Irondequoit, the son of Ivan and Harriet Dewey Foster. A mechanic by profession, he owned and operated Foster's Mobil Station on South Main Street for many years. He then was employed by the Harris Timble & Ron Begys Garage in Ontario until he retired in 1994 because of ill health. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. For 18 years, he served with the US Army's Reserves, 98th Infantry Division.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Dick loved camping with his family in the Adirondacks and cooking, especially late at night around the campfire. He was a model car buff.

His great sense of humor and teasing will be missed by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Krebbeks Foster, sons James (Linda) of Newark, John (Laurie) of Sodus and Jerrold of Newark, eight grandchildren Jaime, Justin, Joey, Elizabeth, Emily and Jerri Foster, Kimberly (Tim) Strickland and Kristina DeVolder, one great grandchild; a brother Carlton of Hemet, Ca., two sisters Blanche Kemp of Macedon and Lorraine Ferrin of Clifton Springs several nieces, nephews and many friends.

The family wishes to express their appreciation for the above and beyond care that he has received at the De May Living Center.
