He studied accounting at Rochester Business Institute. In 1933 he began a career at F.E. Mason & Sons in Batavia as a designer. When the company was sold, he returned to the Mason Company in Batavia for a short time until his retirement at age 62. Returning to Newark, he was a familiar figure at his easel in the area countryside. Over the years Dick had several one-man shows and received honorable mention at a prestigious art show in Cooperstown. While in the nursing home Dick continued to paint, mostly from photographs he had taken over the years. Recognized by his peers, he has been asked to join a number of art councils. He belonged to the Rochester Art Club, Batavia Society of Artists, Buffalo Society of Artists and the Cooperstown Art Association.
He is survived by his devoted daughter Karen Ware of Rochester, a son Terrick (Patricia) Ware of Fort Worth, Tx., three grandchildren Allison Hulbert, Derick and Jason Ware.
Dick was predeceased by his wife Gladys on August 17, 2003.
