Greenberg, 65, died on Tuesday, June
9, 2009, at the Homestead Nursing Home in Penn Yan, NY.
A
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday (June 13th) at 3 P.M. on NY Route 90 across from fire lane 14, north of
Union Springs.
Bob was born on May 13, 1944 in Bronx, NY the
son of Ralph and Florence Shapiro Greenberg.
He grew up in Ashtabula, Ohio and
achieved a bachelor's degree from Western Reserve University in
Cleveland, Ohio. He continued at the University of Rochester teaching history
while he completed a master's degree in history. Bob was the co-founder and co-director of the
Rochester Genesee Valley History Project.
He received a Masters of Social Work and Masters of Public
Administration at Syracuse University. Mr. Greenberg worked as a Counselor at
Crossroads Halfway House in Rochester . The Executive Director of the
Livingston County Council on Alcoholism, he was also the director of the Ottie
Hall halfway house in Newark. He helped
many people in their recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. Known for his great sense-of-humor, Bob
enjoyed gardening, camping and time spent with his family.
Robert is survived by his wife of 44 years
Susan, a son William J. (Ashley) of Geneva, granddaughter Hayle, grandson
Malakai, and a sister Joanne (George) Jannini Greenberg of Atlanta, GA.
