Newark ---Robert Young, 85, died Saturday (November 10, 2012), at the Newark- Wayne Community Hospital.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. on Tuesday (November 13th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday (November 14th) at the funeral home with Rev. Christy Wareham officiating. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery

Mr. Young was born on December 21, 1926, in Lyons the son of Floyd and Grace Benning Young. He graduated from the Lyons High School in 1945 and joined the US Army for the remainder of World War II. Bob worked for the Village of Newark for 31 years. He was the chief operator of the waste water treatment plant on Murray Street, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church, the Geneva YMCA and had been a volunteer with the Boy Scouts.
Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean Cowan Young; two sons Richard (Diane) of Lyons and Michael (Roxanne); a daughter Linda (Terry) Button of Phoenix, NY; ten grandchildren and a great grandson. He was predeceased by an infant son John, twin sons Thomas in 1990 and Daniel in 2006; two brothers Everett and Ralph; two sisters Florence Yarrabee and Margie Clum.
