Roland "Ro" Strassburger
Newark"Roland P. Strassburger, 68, of Ford Road, died Tuesday (January 8, 2008) at the Newark-Wayne Community Hopsital.
Friends may call on 2-4 & 7-9 PM Friday (Jan 11th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark Funeral services will be at 2 PM on Saturday (Jan. 12th) at the funeral home with Rev. Joseph Irvin officiating. Burial will be in Fairville Cemetery.

Mr. Strassburger was born on November 27, 1939 in Evanston, Illinois, the son of Fritz and Ruth Dieball Strassburger. He was a long haul truck driver, retiring from Mark Stevens Trucking in Victor six years ago. Ro was co-founder with his late wife of Ro-N-Jan's Beer Batter Potatoes, operating at local craft shows and festivals for over twenty-five years. He served with the US Navy during the Vietnam War as a mechanic with the Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Eight. Ro was a member of the August Mauer Post, American Legion and the Sky Rovers a model airplane flying club.
He is survived by his daughter Karen (Steve Hurrin) Lucieer of Newark, sons Keith (Kathy) Yohe of Henrietta and Kelly (Joy) Strassburger of Penfield, long time family friend Viktor (Briggette) Mattes of Germany; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, a sister Charlotte Wennuland of Illinois. Roland was predeceased by his wife Janice in 2002 and a son Kirk Yohe.
