Newark–Rose M. Nicosia, 73, died Saturday (November 27, 2010) at the Clifton Springs Hospital.

            Friends may call on Tuesday (November 30th) from 4 to7 pm at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street in Newark.  Father Peter Clifford will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am on Wednesday (December 1st) at St. Michael’s Church, South Main Street, Newark.  Burial will follow at Newark Cemetery.

          Memorials, in her name, may be made to St. Michael’s Church, 401 South Main Street, Newark, New York 14513 or to the Wayne County Humane Society, 1475 County House Road, Lyons, New York 14489.

          Rose was born on September 10, 1937, in Lyons, New York the daughter of Maurice and Lena Vanderwege Taber.  She graduated from Wolcott High School in the Class of 1955.  Rose was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church.  For many years, she helped her husband at his business Wayne Beer Distributing and most recently helped her son at Joey’s Northside Grocery.  She will be long remembered for her loving spirit and soul.

          She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Joseph, son Joey, daughter and son-in-law MaryAnne and Michael McCarthy all of Newark, a sister Mary Ellen LaPiana of Florida; grandchildren of her heart Erin, Jake and Sarah Barrett.  Rose was predeceased by a brother James Taber.
