Rosemary Gooden
Newark – Rosemary Gooden, 84, died Sunday (August 13, 2017) at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.
Friends may call from 4-7 PM on Wednesday (August 16th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday (August 17th) at St. Michael Church, South Main Street, Newark . Burial will be in Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira.
Memorials, in her name, may be made to the Lipson Cancer Center, 1425 Portland Avenue, Rochester, New York 14621.
Rosemary was born on August 2, 1933 in Newark, daughter of the late Charles and Mary DeBois Colasurdo. She graduated from Newark High School in 1952. In her earlier years, she played softball, bowled and played on the Newark Community Center first women's basketball team, the Centerettes. She did clerical work at C.H. Stuart and for Beckens Park. For over thirty years, she was a family care provider in her home for Newark Developmental Center., retiring in 1995. Rosemary was a communicant of St. Michael Church.
She is survived by her four children Mark Gooden, MaryCatherine Gooden, Christine Bouwens and Gail Tack all of Newark; nine grandchildren Herland Bouwens, Clayton Bouwens, Benjanin Bouwens, Henry Bouwens, Brittney Gooden, DavidLee Tack, Jesse Appell, Ashley Appell and Phillip Tack; eight great grandchildren; her siblings Teresa (Jim) Hurley, Frank (Donna) Colasurdo, Michael Colasurdo all of Newark, Zinda (Al) Janke of Waterloo and Joseph Colasurdo of Newark; many nieces and nephews. Rosemary was predeceased by her husband Orville Lee Gooden in 1965 and a brother Charles Colasurdo.
