Cuyler, Russell I.
Clifton Springs/Newark---Russell I. Cuyler, 92, formerly of Lyons and Newark, died on Friday (February 20, 2009) at his home in Clifton Springs.
Funeral services will be 11 A.M. on Tuesday (Feb. 24th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.
In his memory, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 2113 Chili Avenue, Rochester, New York 14624.
Mr. Cuyler was born on June 6, 1916 in Newark, the son of John and Alta Cuyler. He worked for C.H. Stuart, Inc., where he was the president of Empire Nursery for many years. When they closed, he became manager of the jewelry manufacturing operation, retiring in 1971. Russ served in the Navy during World War II, stationed in New Guinea, where he was a supply clerk. He was a life member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Newark and was very active in many church functions. He had been a member of the Newark Country Club.
Russ is survived by his wife of 69 years, Barbara, two nieces Nancy Cuyler and Susan Swain, and long time family friends David DiRaddo and Marquita Peterson of Penfield. He was predeceased by his son David in 1967, a brother and a sister.
