Newark—Sharon A. Downey, 73, died Wednesday (May 18, 2016) at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be private and at the convienence of the family. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery

Memorials, in her name, may be made to the American Heart Assoication, 3500 Winton Place, Rochester, New York 14623.

Mrs. Downey was January 11, 1943, in Batavia, New York the daughter of the late Walford and Barbara Smock Anderson. She graduated from Honeoye Falls High School in 1962. Sharon had worked for many years at I.E.C. and Refractron Technologies Corp. in Newark.

She is survived by her fiance Edward Kasprowicz; three sons Matthew (Jill) of Newark, Mark of King Ferry, and Joshua (Shelly) of Newark; grandchildren Brandon, Jake, Jenna Downey, Jake and Seth Faeth,Gabe Adams; siblings Wally (Linda) Anderson of Honeoye Falls, Skip (Pat) Anderson of Canandaigua and Barbara (Donald) Rayburn of Holcomb; several niece and nephews. Sharon was predeceased by her husband Norman in 2007 and a sister Becky DiMariano.
