Newark –Shirley A. Casselman, 75, died Thursday (March  11, 2010) at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.

          Friends may call from 3-5 and 7-9 PM on Monday (March 15th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller St., Newark.  Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Tuesday (March 16^th) at the funeral home.  Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery. 

          Memorials, in her name, may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, New York 13220 or the First United Methodist Church, PO Box 189, Newark, New York 14513.   

          Mrs. Casselman was born in Newark on October 2, 1934, the daughter of the late David H. and Dorothy Kiddney Dayton.  She was a 1952 graduate of Newark High School and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newark.  Shirley worked for over 30 years for the Newark School District, at first a secretary and then the payroll clerk, retiring in 1989.

She is survived by two daughters Linda (Michael) Klemann and Debbie (Lisle) Snow both of Newark, four grandchildren Michael (Jennifer) and Matthew Klemann, Kimberly Johnson and Amber (Jason) Snow, three great grandchildren Justin, Ashley and Paige, two brothers David (Beverly) Dayton of Port Gibson and Jack (Lynda) Dayton of Sanford, NC, several nieces and nephews.  Shirley was predeceased by her husband Robert E. in 1990, a brother Robert Dayton and a sister Doris Clark.
