Port Gibson-- Sylvia “Sally” Wright , 98 , passed away peacefully on June 22, 2013, with her family by her side at Geneva General Hospital. Family and friends are invited to call on June 26th from 6pm to 8pm at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home 127 E. Miller St. Newark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 A.M. on Thursday June 27th at . St. Michael Church, South Main Street, Newark with burial following at the Port Gibson Cemetery. Sally was born January 10, 1915, daughter of Bernard and Prudence Vandermortel. She worked at Bloomer Bros. before marrying her husband Glenn and starting a family. She was a lifetime member of the Port Gibson Fire Department Auxiliary and a resident of the Wayne County Nursing home for the last few years. Sally is survived by her sons, James (Pam) of Clyde, Edward (Syble) of Bloomfield;daughters Brenda Ridgely of Clifton Springs and Karen Wright of Sodus. She will be missed by her ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Sally was predeceased by her parents, husband Glenn;daughter Donna; sisters Mary Yost, Julia Englert and Margaret Molina.
