Newark/Canandaigua—Thelma G. Prutzman, 92, died on Monday (April 26, 2010) at Clark Manor in Canandaigua.
Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. on Thursday (April 29th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. on Friday (April 30th) at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Newark Cemetery.

Mrs. Prutzman was born on November 8, 1917, in Newark, the daughter of Leon and Evelyn Ehrhardt Gillard. She lived in Newark for 85 years before moving to Canandaigua in August of 2002. She had worked for 32 years for Commercial Enterprises, Peggy Newton Cosmetics and Caroline Emmons Jewelry then eight years for Nieskes & Craig Insurance. She retired from the Park Presbyterian Church in 1988 where she was secretary for 13 years. Thelma is a life member of the First United Methodist Church in Newark. She was a member of Mizpah Circle of the Kings Daughters, the Arcadia Senior Citizens, Wayne County Historical Society, Newark-Arcadia Historical Society, the Wayne County Humane Society and the Helping Hands Crafters. For many years, she had enjoyed several craft projects including rug hooking, knitting and crocheting. In recent years she had been pursuing her long dormant hobby of painting with water-colors.
Thelma is survived by sister-in-laws Bettie Shawcross and Mary Prutzman, several nieces and nephews and many good friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Earl “Gus” Prutzman on November 5, 1998. .
