Newark---Thomas F. Healy, 91, died on Tuesday (June 26, 2012) at the Wayne County Nursing Home.

            A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Saturday (July 14th) at St. Michael's Church, South Main Street, Newark.  Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.  

            Donations in his memory may be made to St. Michael Church, 401 South Main Street, Newark, New York 14513, the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital ER Building Fund, PO Box 571, Newark, New York 14513 or the Wayne County Nursing Home for their skilled and compassionate care of Mr. Healy.

            Mr. Healy graduated from Newark High School in 1938 and the University of Notre Dame in 1949.  He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II as a co-pilot of a B-24 bomber and saw action in the skies over Northern France and Germany and over the beaches of Normandy on D-Day.  Tom was awarded the Air Medal (one Oak Leaf Cluster) with a special citation for bravery.  He was employed for thirty years by the C.H. Stuart Company in Newark.  His last position was VP of Marketing for Caroline Emmons Jewelers.  Tom ran for the office of Town of Arcadia Supervisor on the Democratic ticket in 1985 and won, he was re-elected five times.  In1999, he was appointed the Democratic Wayne County Election Commissioner and served for eight years.  Tom was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church.  A former member of the Newark Rotary, the Elks, the American Legion, the VFW, Newark DDSO Board of Visitors, the Wayne ARC and the Newark Country Club.

            He was predeceased by his father Thomas Sr., mother Celia, a sister Mary Louise Burlo, brothers Robert and James.  Tom is survived by his wife of sixty years Mary Jane Mack Healy; five sons Michael, Richard (Lori), John (InHui), Thomas III, and James; four grandchildren William, Conor, Mary Kate and Emma Healy; two step-grandchildren Nicholas and McKenzie Botcher; a sister-in-law Lorrain Healy; several nieces and nephews.
