Newark/Sodus—Thomas L. Welcher, 56, died Sunday (October 25, 2009) at Strong Memorial Hospital.

          Friends may call from 5-8 PM on Thursday (October 29th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark.  Funeral services will be on Friday (October 30th) at 1 PM with the Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating.  Burial will be in Fairville Cemetery 

          Mr. Welcher was born on February 18, 1953 in Rochester, the son of Paul and Marian Rykbost Welcher.  Tom graduated from Newark Senior High School in 1971.  He went on to Alfred to study Surveying and graduated in 1973.  For the past 22 years he was a Heavy Equipment Operator for Art Graf Inc.  He was a member of the Wayne County Farm Bureau.  Tom was the proud owner of the T & D Farm.

He is survived by his Fiancée Donna Fisher of Sodus, two children Andrea (Alan) Place of Hampton VA and Adam Welcher of Newark,  two grand children Chloe and Lillian Place of Hampton VA, a brother Jeffery (Theresa) Welcher of Oneida, a sister-in-law Sue Welcher of Newark,  two nephews Evan and Aaron Welcher and a niece Meghan Welcher.  He was predeceased by his parents Paul and Marian Rykbost Welcher and a brother Frank Welcher.
