Newark/Clifton Springs"Thornton Duane Strecker, Jr., 58, died Saturday (May 21, 2005) at the Albany Medical Center.
Graveside funeral services will be at 1 PM on Friday (May 27th) at Oaklawn Cemetery, Oak Corners with Father Peter Clifford.
Memorials in his name may be made to the Habitat for Humanity.
Mr. Strecker was born in Englewood, New Jersey on April 23, 1947, the son of Thornton and Margaret Hohensee Strecker, Sr. He graduated from River Dell High School in Oradell, New Jersey. He then attended college for a couple of years. Thornton retired from the US Navy on disability after serving for six years on a destroyer, the USS Knox, during the Viet Nam War. He has lived in the Albany area the past fifteen years.
He is survived by his sister Barbara Rathbun of Clifton Springs, several aunts and uncles, a nephew and niece, and nine cousins.
The family is being served by the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home.
