Newark—Vera B. Collins, 83, died Thursday (October 29, 2009) at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.

Friends may call from 9:30 – 10:30 on Wednesday (November 4^th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark.   A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM at St. Michael’s Church, South Main Street, Newark, with Father Felix Dalimpuo celebrating.

Mrs. Collins was born in Elmira on January 8, 1926, the daughter of Lawrence and Elizabeth Trefry Coon.  She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church.  Vera had worked as a telephone operator for New York Telephone Company

          She is survived by a three grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a sister Ruth Saunders of Big Flats, NY, several nieces  and nephews.  Vera was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 2003, son Daniel in 1996, a daughter Linda Birk in 2005, and a brother Wendell Coon.
