Victor J. Calviera
Newark--81, died Tuesday (February 16, 2016) at Rochester General Hospital.
Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. on Friday (February 19th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Saturday (February 20th) at St. Michael Church, South Main Street, Newark. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.
Memorials, in his name, may be made to American Heart Association, 3500 Winton Place, Rochester, NY 14626.
Mr. Calviera was born on December 30, 1934 in Newark, the son of the late Peter John and Pauline Morganti Calviera. He was a graduate of Newark High School and the Rochester Institute of Technology. Victor was a tool and die maker for over 35 years at Xerox, retiring in 1995. For several years in his retirement, he was a substitute teacher at many of the schools in the area. Victor was a communicant of St. Michael Church, and a 4th Degree member of the Newark Council , Knights of Columbus. He had been a member of the August Mauer Post #286 Drum and Bugle Corp, coached little league baseball and was a former boxer.
He is survived by his wife of 58_years, Barbara Wiltsie Calviera, two daughters Laurie Gisel of Webster and Vicki Calviera of Myrtle Beach, SC; a son Peter of Boca Raton, FL; five grandchildren Jessie Daniels, Bradi Daniels, Coty Calviera, Alex Calviera and Brooke Gisel; a great granddaughter Luna Skye Young; sisters Connie Karekos of Newark and Josephine Capanna of Charleston, SC.; several nieces and nephews. Victor was predeceased by his siblings John, William, Ann and Vincent Cill.
