Newark---Walter M. DeCann, 92, of Newark, died Saturday (March 17, 2007) at the Wayne County Nursing Home.

Friends may call from 4-8 P.M., on Wednesday (March 21st) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street Newark. Funeral Services will be at 11 A.M. on Thursday (March 22h) at the funeral home with Rev. Christy Wareham, officiating. Burial will be in East Palmyra Cemetery.

Walter was born on January 25, 1915 in Newark, the son of Henry and Maude Ryckman DeCann. Walter spent most of his life as a dairy farmer and in later years worked at the Seneca Foods canning factory in Newark at his favored occupation of machinist. He enjoyed his loving family and friends, woodworking and his 1959 Buick auto.

He is survived by his children; Virginia (Bob) Bodine of Fairville, Donald (Pauline) DeCann of Newark, Joyce (Carl) Smith of Victor; grandchildren Becky (Dean) Teeter, Jeffery (Amy) Bodine, David (Tonya) DeCann, John DeCann, Eve (Brandon) Luricella, two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

. Walt was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor DeCann on December 25, 2006.
