William J. "Sandy" Russell
Lyons/Newark---William "Sandy" Russell, 67, died Thursday (March 1, 2007) after a long and courageous battle with cancer, at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.
Friends may call from 2-6 P.M., on Sunday (March 4th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street Newark. Funeral Services will be at 2 P.M. on Monday (March 5th) at the Fairville Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Watkins, officiating. Burial will be in South Lyons Cemetery.

Mr. Russell was born on December 26, 1939 in Rochester, the son of James and Doris Doe Russell. He retired in 2002, from International Service Systems where he was a project manager. Sandy was a member of the Fairville Presbyterian Church and had served in the US Navy from 1957-1961. Sandy had a great sense of humor and loved to ride his Harley-Davidson.
He is survived by his wife Dianne, children Billy (Diane) Eldridge of RI, Russ (Tammy) Russell of Lyons, Robin (C.J.) Russell-Muncy of Dade City, Fl., Scooter (Michelle) Russell of Newark, B.J. (Dia) Russell of Moravia; stepchildren Allen Gardner and Erin (Terry) Gardner of Lyons; thirteen grandchildren; siblings Pepper (Karen) Russell, Doreen Porzi, Donna (Bill) McDonald and Jack (Tammy) Russell, many nieces and nephews. Sandy was predeceased by his parents, his wife Beatrice, a sister Janice Strassburger and a brother James Russell.
