Marian J. Chetney

Newark—Marian Jean Chetney, 89, died Friday (April 9, 2021) at the Wayne County Nursing Home.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in St. John Cemetery in Clyde.

Marian was born in Lyons on May 31, 1931, the daughter of the late LeRoy and Rose Mary Janto Boyce.

She was a 1948 graduate of Clyde High School. After high school, she began a career as an operator with the New York Telephone Company. When dialing of telephones started Marian made her career change and used her artistic talents, first at Arcadia Florist and then Flowers Unlimited. Marian was a communicant of St. Michael Church in Newark. She had been active with the Wayne County Chapter of the Red Cross, a foster grandparent at the Newark Developmental Center and the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by four children Paul (Mabel “Skip”) of Newark, Denise(Rob Manso) McConville of Port Charlotte, Fl, Neil (Cristal) of Hampton, VA, and Erin (Richard) Smith Queensbury, NY; ten grandchildren Justin, Kari, Kayla, Jennifer, Sara, Wyatt, D.J., Masen, Willow and Julia; several great grandchildren. Marian was predeceased by her brothers Roy and James Boyce.
